Appropriate action will be taken against State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, who was involved in a couple of incidents in Anuradhapura and Welikada prisons, based on the investigation reports, Justice Minister Ali Sabri said today.
He told parliament that CID and Human Rights Commission have already begun investigations into the incident.
In response to a question raised by Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) leader Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, the Minister also said that the Cabinet decided to appoint a retired High Court Judge to look into the incident and submit a report and added that appropriate action would be taken against Lohan Ratwatte by the political authority, the hierarchy of the Sri lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and the Government.
